ABOUT ALEX:

(A brief introduction, and then I'll let Alex introduce himself. Alex is my kid. He is funny, smart, autistic, kind, loving, all-around awesome. He talks a lot, but his spoken language usually doesn't match his inner thoughts. He communicates what is truly on his mind through typing with a trained communication partner. In fact, he will often say one thing and type another. He has told us (via typing) that his brain and his mouth aren't connected, and that his mouth makes him sound stupid.

As he's gotten more fluent on the keyboard, he has gotten really good at writing. He writes beautiful essays and creative writing pieces. I recently asked him if he'd like me to share his writings on this blog, and he said an enthusiastic YES! We're excited for him to have this chance to show the sides of him that remain largely hidden to the world. Okay, take it away Alex!)
